1. we do not get name_to_major from /srvd. Yes, we should take out
name_to_major from /srvd/etc because we do not use it anymore in 8.4
2. I have not checked what happens after update . It may be (I will check
this afternoon) that pkgadd leaves name_to_major in place but I am almost sure
that this is not the case. Every time pkgadd adds a driver, it changes
name_to_major. The test is simple : update a machine and look at name_to_major.
If sysmsg does not appear, it is a problem with pkgadd that I have to figure and
fix.
3. As you recall from what I said yesterday, I rebooted the Ultra-60 5
times and I had no problems.
The mistery goes on.....
