I have some updates on the SGI AFS situation.
I finally have some definitive answers from SGI:

	1. If we had parts care directly through SGI the new CPU's
would be a $0 parts exchange.
	2. I have an actual part number for the CPU replacement.
I'll supply that part number to Brian.
	3. The cost, if we buy it from SGI, is $210.
	4. They do not have many of them on hand, and are in the
process of determining how long it would take to get them if we did
order them.

I have not had recent communication with the person from Great
Eastern that Polaris put on the case. I will call him on Monday
for a status report.

Bob Basch told me that the current status of the software fix is:

	1. An engineer at Transarc is reading up on why they had done things
the way they did with regards to the unimplemented call.
	2. An SGI engineer's todo list has our issue on it with the
understanding that a fix is needed by early summer.
	3. Our liaison in SGI will keep us informed.

I myself, am a little concerned about the slack implied by "early
summer", but at this point don't want to nudge too much.

This effort will continue to be touch and go, on a weekly basis until we
come to closure. At least we know a maximum cost to remedy: $210 per
machine plus our labor.

I'll communicate directly with Brian to discuss the hardware options in
more detail.
