Message-Id: <200005171901.PAA00333@small-gods.mit.edu>
From: Greg Hudson <ghudson@MIT.EDU>
To: release-team@MIT.EDU

(If this stuff seems outdated, that's because the minutes are coming
out two weeks after the meeting.)

Attending: ajfox zacheiss aurora rbasch miki wdc tb ghudson

1. Kerberos

Kerberos vulnerabilities have been discovered. We will put fixed
binaries on the packs and supply a script for people to get the fixed
binaries. We will schedule a patch release for the Monday after
finals.

2. 8.4 release delays

The Red Hat Athena beta is waiting on our ability to update kernel
RPMs.

We also need to make some changes to the Solaris update; miki is
dealing.

3. Asynchronous writes on Solaris

jhawk provided us with code to turn on asynchronous writes for
installs. Initial results suggest that they don't help much. [Later
results showed that they actually helped noticeably, so we're leaving
them in for now.]

4. Install locker setup

tb had some questions regarding how we should set up install locker
Linux stuff:

For stuff where the production version lives elsewhere, should the
production version be a copy or a symlink? (Copy.)

How should we do source control? (RCS.)

How important is it to automate the process of building the miniroot?
(Automation isn't critically important as long as it's documented
well.)

5. IRIX and AFS on rev 1 R5000 machines

rbasch has a debugging module to help narrow down the problem.

We will take the following actions:

	1. Garry will make a list of affected machines.
	2. Greg will report the problem to Transarc.
	3. We will continue working with SGI.
