1. Solaris update plans

miki is debugging the update from 8.3 to the pkgadd-based system.
There are no problems with having one big root partition. When miki
is ready, Greg and miki and Bob will meet to discuss how to put the
pieces together.

2. 8.4 release schedule

As usual, crash and burn begins March 1. Ideally, we should have a
working OS update by that time. In practice, it will probably slide a
bit.

Alpha begins April 1. We hope to have a usable Athena update by that
time.

3. Linux

We have some problems with locally installed packages conflicting with
locker software. We'll get rid of them in the next update.

The workstations have two-button mice. We expected three-button mice,
so we don't even have Emulate3Buttons set. We'll get three-button
mice for the machines.

We've run into some compatibility issues with old locker software,
specifically software which references /usr/lib/terminfo and
/usr/lib/zoneinfo. After some debate, we decided not to install
compatibility links on cluster machines because locker software should
work with layered machines in addition to cluster machines.

Greg will send mail to locker-maintainers about the new platform.

Remaining Linux port tasks:
	* Install improvements:
		- Defaults for questions other than IP address
		- Less hardware dependence
		- Custom install (ability to set target disk,
		  bigger swap/cache partitions)
	* Andrew (needs to be built)
	* Package list pruning
	* Three-button mice
	* Private Workstation Owner's Guide
	* Layered release documentation
	* mkserv
	* Update fixes
	* Laptop support

4. Gnome redux

We are vaguely planning to import the gtk toolkit for Athena release
8.4. However, it would really want to be a shared library, and there
is an issue with shared libraries we haven't considered yet: we have
to carry around old shared libraries from release to release to keep
locker software working, and on Linux we have to decide what package
old versions of shared libraries come in.
