The initial Linux/Athena release is ready. Boot floppies (and install
instructions) are in /mit/bootkit/rhlinux. Currently they depend on
the cluster hardware, especially a compatible monitor, IDE disk, and
same ethernet card. Future install setups will not be so restricted.
The packs can be replicated over to the athena cell anytime before the
cluster install is ready to happen (currently aimed for Tuesday
morning).
Note the special permissions on
/afs/dev/system/rhlinux/athena-8.3/restricted; these must be preserved
in the copy. It must be possible for any authorized MIT user, and any
user on MITnet (even if not authenticated) to get at that directory,
but not randoms.
Because of the license rules, *all* the contents of
/afs/dev/system/rhlinux, including the sources, must be copied over to
the athena cell.
