(This may be related to the recent "Netscape mail privacy"
thread...)
The new mail server can talk IMAP, and I've been pointing
netscape at it.
One thing I noticed is that netscape will store summary files
in a "~/ns_imap" directory, similarly to the way it stores local
information in a "~/nsmail" directory. There is no GUI-accessible
way to change the location of the ns_imap directory. What I've
done for myself is directly edit the "mail.imap.root_dir" entry
in my preferences.js file.
My own solution has been to configure "mail.direcotry" and
"mail.imap.root_dir" to be in subdirectories ("nsmail" and
"ns_map" respectively) of my ~/.netscape directory. If this
weren't done, the appropriate thing to do would probably be to
set restrictive afs permissions on ~/nsmail and ~/ns_imap.
