Well....let's raise the issue one level.  Would it be a benefit to rel-eng to
have a place where unstripped binaries for just about everything were
installed (that would stay consistant with a given srvd/os/version? 

I could picture it being beneficial to make such a place (and not have it
not replicated) and too automatically always have unstripped consistant
binaries for a pack.
