Athena Sun Release 7.7K, in (J in beta since Friday; K in beta
tonight), will be going out to the field Thursday night. [The
difference between J and K is a few file ownerships; they were
mistakenly changed in J and changed back in K. Noone seemed to
notice.]
Let me (and/or Kim) know if this is a problem... A list of the changes
follows.
Thanks,
Craig
======================================================================
Changes in this patch are as follows:
o xzwrite has been fixed not to dump core when trying
to send a message.
o synctree now properly removes files.
o A new version of pageview from Sun that deals correctly with
twm has been included.
o /etc/inetd.conf has been moved to /etc/inet, and a symlink
now points from the old location to the new. This is the
normal layout for Solaris.
o The sendmail daemon is once again not run on startup.
o The cm port has been enabled in inetd.conf so that Sun's cm
program can work. I'm not sure it does though.
o strings.h was added to /usr/athena/include to facilitate
compiling programs in the source tree which depend on it.
o /usr/athena/bin/talk has been added to the Suns to supercede
the broken version Sun ships. talk will now execute a generally
useful version of talk; Sun's version (useful for talking to
other brain-damaged Suns) may be accessed by running "otalk"
instead of talk.
o lpquota has been fixed so as not to crash the print quota
server.
o A new version of tail from Sun has been included so that
you can now tail more than the last 4K of a file.
o kshd now properly defines the PATH environment variable,
enabling rcp to function correctly.
