While on a cluster walk (with kcr and zacheiss), we found a number of
U5's had crashed after updating. The affected machines were in a state
where they were powered, but neither pinging nor giving any signal to
their monitors. They didn't respond to the soft power button.
When they were power cycled with the hard power button, they came up
and fsck'd as if they had crashed hard. Upon coming up, they seemed to
be running 8.3.
The machines thus affected were:
m56-129-17
m12-182-5
w20-575-94
rotch-32
rotch-36
sci-read-room
All except sci-read-room (unrelated problems) now seem fine.
