Here are the list of things that I came up with for the release from the
Ops/Net-Ops point of view.
discuss: last release we updated just dsmail. I suggest this time we get the
complete discuss tree so that we have some relatively old client fixes
login.krb: I sent in a patch that should be installed
encrypted passwords: I suggest that we remove the encrypted passwords for
kerberos users from our /etc/passwd files. The presence of these encrypted
strings opens up the users for password cracking attacks if their password is
shorter than 9 characters. The changes would effect /bin/login, login.krb,
xlogin, and ftpd.
RX layer patches: We have some patches for AFS that fix an RX layer bug (or so
we think). These patches will have been in production in the dialup pool for
a while by the time that we make the inclusion list. I suggest that they be
integrated back into the release.
Sendmail: Also by the time of the inclusion list, the dialup pool will have
been running sendmail 8.6.9. I suggest we also include that.
