1. We should enter Beta this weekend or early next week. Draft release
notes will be available next week.

2. The question of Y2K compliance for SGI Indies -- the prom date command
may display the time incorrectly. However, this is only a display problem.

3. Certain sun motherboards with 24 bit may have a problem -- see Bill's
mail. (I believe this has been resolved at this point -- we don't have any
of the affected systems)

4. SGI does not appear to have a "clean set" of patches for 6.2 and 6.3 Y2K
compliance. Bill was looking into this as a possible alternative for anyone
who did not want to upgrade to Irix 6.5 (Athena 8.3). Basically, all SGI
systems need to upgrade to Irix 6.5 before the end of the year.

At this point I had to leave for another meeting.

"This requires ... that we work to create at MIT an atmosphere of civility,
collegiality, and mutual respect - one that stimulates and supports all of our
faculty, students and staff." Charles Vest, Jan. 12, 1994
