Lou:
Good news! NONE of our Ultra-10's are affected.
Marine Brown and I made contact with Sun, inventoried the Ultra-10's
shipped and NONE are problem units.
New information:
If the Sun order number for the system is:
A22UEA1A9L-A128CG
or
A22UEA1A9L-A128CGE
Then it's got a PGX8
If it's:
A22UEA1A9L-B128CG
A22UEA1A9L-B128CGE
A21UHC1A9P-B128CPE (this is the Ultra-5 we recommend through NECX)
Then it's a PGX24.
So end-users can identify their risk by looking at the packing slip on file.
If the machine was shipped BEFORE December 17, 1998, and is a
-B128 part with a Serial Number below FW85200000
Then it's at risk.
At this point it looks like there are a total of 3 candidates for
motherboard replacement (as per Naomi's note):
84610023 (PAWS machine in Civil Engineering)
84610100 (PAWS machine in the MIT libraries)
84810126 (the original 24 bit Ultra5 used as a
tester by Bill Cattey, still in stock)
