1. Y2K -- the Athena sources have been audited. Testing is pending.
2. Latex2e -- there may be some adjustments needed for people who are using
slitex and amslatex. However, the consultants would like us to go ahead.
3. zwgc failures -- we should ask people who see this problem to timestamp
and provide the machine identity when the problem occurs.
4. Andrew 8 -- there do not appear to be significant reasons to invest the
necessary time to make this upgrade now. We are going to table Andrew
upgrades for now.
5. Ultra 5/10, java3d, elite vs. creator -- we will try to do a patch
release with the latest revision of the drivers. The ability to switch
between 24 and 8 bit visuals is fairly complex, and it does not appear that
we can do this reliably in a short time frame. We probably will have a
wrapper in Athena 8.3. Also, we need to have someone review bill's code for
sanity.
6. Software license wrapper -- we are still examining this. We need the
keys for frame to move forward -- Abby will talk to Alex?
7. There are reports that Indys sometimes have truncated or corrupt files.
Bob will think about whether there is a better way to monitor necessary
files. There also appears to be a need to encourage student reports of
"down" machines. One thought -- if reporting a problem to hotline got you
an entry in the weekly drawing for Toscanini's ice cream, I suspect we'd get
more reports.
8. A discussion of some possible initiatives for Athena 8.4 started. The
main reason to begin considering this now is to allow watchmaker efforts
over the summer. Unfortunately, I had to leave, so someone else will have
to report on whatever initiatives were mentioned.
