this was a non-meeting, so if you missed it, don't worry.
1. 8.2.13 is out. No special reports so far.
2. The investigation of biosym and 4-035 continues. Some testing with O2s
indicates that heavy AFS reading may be causing network lossage. Other
testing suggests that 4-035 is not a highly loaded network. There is some
thought that the high CPU processing speed combined with the lack of flow
control for a UDP based protocol may be resulting in overrunning the
ethernet hardware or software. However, the problem is not yet well
understood.
3. Looking farther ahead, we should be moving to Solaris 2.7 (now called
Solaris 7) and Irix 6.5 next year. The release engineer would like to have
relatively stable operating systems in February, if possible.
Bob Basch needs information from SGI about the memory use during installs.
Source for both systems is needed ASAP.
We will not hold a meeting Tuesday, Nov. 24. Those who are interested may
want to attend the integration luncheon instead, the topic being discussed
is email futures.
