1. Heather is cursed. Her Ultra 10 apparently took the update, and
"forgot" the correct setting for booting. I.e. it was attempting to boot
disk:b. This is despite having set-defaults run and several successful boots.
We repeated the set-defaults and it booted correctly.
2. Bob has gotten 6.2 AFS special build to correct the problem with
building and stripping in AFS. Since there are no reports of problems with
this, and we expect a normal AFS upgrade relatively soon, we may not use this.
3. Workstation/server problem -- where the workstation apparently brings
down an AFS server using expired tokens. Transarc is currently asking for
extensive information, some of which does not appear to understand our
environment. This is not moving very well.
4. The dev cell going public. Operations is investigating some questions
about /afs/dev/reference. May either restrict access or move some things.
5. The use of the zip drive for user home directory backup. Abby has
investigated mbackup. It probably needs work -- it isn't very
"user-friendly." Mpartition dumps core on Irix.
There is also a zip icon under 6.2. Investigation after the release meeting
suggests it only uses Mac formatted zip disks. Bob Basch and Abby Fox will
continue investigations on both the use of the native Irix zip access and
the mtools.
Next week (10/13) Mike Barker will be out-of-town. Greg Hudson will conduct
the meeting if needed.
