Dear Alex,

Here is the list of things which I have seen cause this core_trap error
before:

First of all there are the N32 libraries which can be installed from the
Irix6.2 Base install CD. This is the list of required subsystems:

c++_eoe.sw32.lib
c_eoe.sw32.lib
eoe.sw32.gfx
ftn77_eoe.sw32.lib
motif_eoe.sw32.eoe
x_eoe.sw32.eoe
compiler_eoe.sw32.lib
compiler_eoe.sw32.unix

Then, you should make sure that Patch 1746 is installed
It is available from: http://support.sgi.com/surfzone/patches/

One more possible cause of this error is if the system is low on swap space.
Use "swap -nl" to make sure there is at least 130 or more megs free before
running insightII. Also, if virtual swap is enabled, it should be set to
300 megs.

Another patch consideration we have run into is that any of these patches
seem to cause this error in certain circumstances:
2044, 2261, 2458, 2715, 3054, 3135
I would suggest trying to uninstall it (they are different versions of the
same patch) if you do have it installed.

The work around which works in some instances is to try using the following
sequence of commands to start insight:
	% setenv BIOSYM_PLAT_OR irix5r3
	% source ~msi/cshrc
	% insightII

Let me know if any of these suggestions have an effect.

Best Regards,

Stanley
