There has been concern that the 8.2 release had a number of changes and
people weren't given adequate warning of the changes, especially those which
required private workstation administrators to modify their ways of handling
things.
I am not sure how much we can do about this.
Some possible improvements on the current procedures:
1. Make and distribute a "system administrators" list of system changes
during beta, early, and general. This can be as simple as a list of points
referencing the system release notes.
2. Make sure the release notes and system release notes are available in
plain ascii as well as via web pages.
3. Publicize the availability of the mailing lists release-announce, etc.
Make sure that private workstation administrators know these are available.
