[Note: This minutes are off the top of my head, so feel free to correct
 and/or update them. -Dot]

In attendance:	Dot, Carla, Craig, Matt, Kevin, John

Agenda
------
1. Status Check
2. What next ?

Meeting Notes
-------------

1. Status

o Versions currently in beta test
	DEC 7.7E
	Risc/6000	7.7E
	Sun 7.7G

o These versions will go into staff test on Monday, August 1

o Bug status. Most of the "serious" reported bugs have been fixed in
these latest versions. The status of solaris_reconf is unknown
(dcns-cluster uses this to change a workstation's configuration).
Dot will talk to Miki & Mark about this.

o The plan is to have these versions then go to the field. After some
discussion, we decided that it would be a good idea to update one
public cluster (John suggested Bldg 37 because it has all the types
of public machines) ahead of the rest of the field, just in case
    something happens.

The original plan was to update Bldg 37 on Wednesday, August 3, and
the rest on Thursday, but due to the subnet switch in Bldg 10, the
rest of the field is being pushed back to Tuesday, August 9.
(Friday and Monday are not good options.)

o User Release Notes are being updated and will be ready. Kevin is
also adding information about new versions of third party software.

o We decided not to have printed copies of the System Release Notes
available in the clusters. They will be available on-line (with a
pointer from the posters and user notes), and in the mail rooms of
    E40 and 11.

o Craig and Mark will finish the system release notes; Dot will
figure out how to get copies to the mail rooms and the info locker.

o Dcns-cluster is ready to deal with the onslaught of the release in
    the clusters.

o We noted that there are only two Athena workstations in residential
halls, one of which has AUTOUPDATE set to false and is therefore not
    affected by a release update.

o Consultants are working on stock answers but otherwise ready.

Action Items
------------

  o [Dot]  Check with Anne Salemme about *how* update actually occurs;
is there an overnight delay? Also, finalize schedule for release to
    field.

o [Craig, Mark, Dot] Finish System Release Notes and distribute to
mail rooms and info locker. Let Kevin know where they are online.

o [Kevin] Finish posters and User Release Notes; co-ordinate with
    dcns-cluster to distribute to clusters.

o [Dot] Contact Michael Barrow for information on how to notify RCCs,
    if necessary.

o [Dot] Send mail to cluster-managers about release schedule.

o [Craig, Mark, Anne] Freeze system packs and copy into Athena cell
    for staff and field updates.

o [Dot] Talk to Miki, Mark about solaris_reconf bug status.

o [Dot] Talk to Anne about updating building 37 cluster ahead of the
    field.

2. What's Next ?

After some discussion, we decided to schedule a next meeting and at
that meeting make definite plans on when to do a patch release. We
fully expect to have at least one patch release out to the field
before the end of the month. We will also use this meeting to deal
with, or make plans to address any other issues which arise before
  then.

Next Meeting: *Wednesday*, August 10, 11:30 - 1:00 in small conference
room. Lunch will be provided (assuming the release hits
the field on Tuesday :-) ). Please let me know by
Thursday, Aug. 4 if you cannot make this meeting, and
what, if anything, you absolutely hate on pizza.
