As I wrote to Greg (but forgot to copy the release team), My work
entails periods of working on my Athena workstation, interspersed
with periods on the telephone, working on my Mac, talking with
people, checking through written material, etc. I frequently want
to turn back to my workstation either to work for an extended
period of time, or just to check out a piece of email, check
something on the Web, or look up an email address, and it's very
annoying to have to wait for what seems like an eternity (although
I know it's only 10 seconds) while I wait for the screen to warm
up. I'll try 'xset s off' as Greg has suggested.
I see now; this in combination with Bill's email to Sun makes
excellent sense to me; I as well would find it maximally annoying.
