1. bind 8.0 has been imported; it needs patches
2. passwd
Currently:
/usr/athena/bin/kpasswd
/usr/bin/passwd
/usr/athena/bin/passwd -> kpasswd
/usr/athena/bin/passwd.real -> /usr/bin/passwd
plus system dependent password files that need to be edited
plan to replace the last two with /usr/athena/bin/passwd
-K option to select kerberized version
-L option to select local version
default figures out correct version including password.local and
other necessary modifications
3.new /etc/athena/access includes
user -- go away luser
*inpasswd rl
* l
4.password change scheduled for May 26. Needs publicity: email to
release-announce; motd; posters
5. documentation being worked on; based on system release notes in
/afs/dev/rel-notes/project. will try to have release notes for beta.
6. Ultra status
cnboot now has two versions, one for the network and one for the
floppy. The network version is for the Ultra.
miniroot has /sbin/format
phase2.sh had /usr/sbin/format now format
disks Seagate.medalist
dev devices pseudotar
AFS os .order
pkgadd
name_to_major
minor_perm
driver_alias
driver_classes
have .u and .m versions - may copy, not track
name_to_major drvconfig boot new name_to_major values may change?
Bottom line: we can now install Ultra5 and Ultra10. Small ragged
edges will be cleaned up by ghudson and miki.
