I've asked hesreq to make the alpha release happen on the sun4
platform. For those of you who have alpha machines, please observe
the caveat that alpha releases might break your machine and force you
to reinstall, so take it with care. On this platform in particular,
we will have to switch to a new version of the OS volume in the middle
of the alpha cycle to support the Ultra 5, and that might introduce
trauma (though I don't expect it to).

The alpha release is also already set up for the O2 platform, although
there are no alpha O2 machines right now. There's no OS upgrade
involved on the O2 platform, so it isn't quite as important that we
give it the full gamut of testing. Some people might consider putting
their O2s in the alpha cluster.

On the Indy platform, we are further behind; rbasch is away this week
and still needs to do a little work on the 8.2 update, and then I have
to update kenmore to 8.2 and rebuild the packs.

So we're behind, as usual, a little more than we were last year. We
need to do better planning next time around, and make sure we have
updates ready by the end of February. As it stands, "crash and burn"
is taking up most of April, instead of March like it was supposed to.
