Please be advised that I may be putting out the alpha test release for
one or more platforms during the coming week. Here are the machines
in the alpha cluster right now:

Cluster: alpha-sun4 Machine: BLUE-TECHNOLOGY-GROUP.MIT.EDU
Cluster: alpha-sun4 Machine: FERD.MIT.EDU
Cluster: alpha-sun4 Machine: PHANTOM-TOLLBOOTH.MIT.EDU
Cluster: alpha-sun4 Machine: THANKYOU.MIT.EDU
Cluster: alpha-sun4 Machine: WHIRLWIND.MIT.EDU

Cluster: alpha-sgi Machine: AIR-TRAFFIC-CONTROLLER.MIT.EDU
Cluster: alpha-sgi Machine: HORTON.MIT.EDU
Cluster: alpha-sgi Machine: MEGARA.MIT.EDU
Cluster: alpha-sgi Machine: MR-JONES.MIT.EDU
Cluster: alpha-sgi Machine: WELLFLEET.MIT.EDU

As usual, the alpha test will require a manual update. To take the
update, ^P your xlogin window, log in as root, and do:

	detach -h -n -a

and then one of:

	attach -h -n -O dev-sun4sys-82
	attach -h -n -O dev-sgi62sys-82
	attach -h -n -O dev-sgi63sys-82

(sgi62 for an Indy, sgi63 for an O2), and then:

	/srvd/update_ws

A caveat about alpha test is that we don't always use the update
system to make sure that machines stay consistent with the release.
So you may be forced to reinstall an alpha machine at times.

Draft system release notes are in
/afs/dev.mit.edu/project/relnotes/rel82.tex if anyone wants to see
what things changed.
