source-developers would have been a better forum for this discussion,
just FYI.
If anyone wants to make improvements to libacl, please go ahead and do
so, following the guidelines in doc/standards. (In particular, rather
than "configuring present limits," there probably shouldn't be any
preset limits.) I wouldn't even worry about preserving the current
interface, especially if it's not reentrant. Preserving the file
format is important, of course.
Since we're in a release cycle, your neighborhood friendly release
engineer is not really free to lend effort to this kind of project, of
course.
