The holiday caused a fair amount of confusion, but...
1. the f_l's would appreciate it if we could put vacation in a
wrapper (alias?) so that when people try to use it, it tells them that
this isn't working. right now users apparently are confused--they run
the program and it appears to work, but it doesn't do the right thing.
Best would be to point users at the recommended way of doing what they
want to do.
