1. IRIX 6.3 - AFS hangs may delay general availability.
Action Item: Jennifer Crockett checking on O2 delivery
2. 8.1.12 will go to Athena next week
3. user home dirs need to not be mode 777 (UFS - does not affect most
of our operations, since we use AFS acls). This causes trouble for
ssh.
Action Item: danw will modify moira to change new user home dirs.
4. window mgr - good discussion. Some points:
- switching to twm will cause the resize method to change
- the dotfiles locker probably needs updating (good watchmaker
project)
- the "win" with twm is size and speed; the win with wmw is
familiarity (it "looks like" and "acts like" windows on a pc)
- there is no real large user benefit to switching
- the dotfiles training course has information about window
managers
Decision: We decided NOT to change the default. There was too little
benefit and a number of costs to changing the default.
5. Switching backspace/delete on sun
- the current modification had a historic purpose, but the
program problem that required it has been fixed.
- the F_Ls need to back out the corrections from the
third-party packages
- need to check how this affects telnet from sun
Decision: Do it!
