At the recent ACMG meeting, there was discussion about the possibility
of changing the new account process to automatically create a www
directory with appropriate permissions in the home dir of new Athena
users.
The original proposal was to modify the new account process to create
a www directory with public access.
Suggestions in the meeting included:
- create the directory with private access and provide people
with directions on how to make it public
- or vice versa
- don't automatically create index.html or home.html pages,
since they would all go into the indexing services
I believe this is a topic which may be of concern to many people, and
I think you should feel free to raise concerns and make suggestions
about this. Please note that this is currently aimed at only adding
www directories for new accounts.
There are three possible mailing lists or addresses I would recommend
for your ideas:
acmg - as the group where the proposal was raised
cwis-dev - as the group that raised the proposal
lisanti - Suzana is the sponsor of the proposal
We can also discuss this either in the release-team or on saurons.
Thank you for your interest and contributions.
Mike
