OK- I've now tested everything on a public machine and am satisfied that MAE
is working at least as well as before- so the machines held back at 8.0 can
be updated to 8.1.
There is still a problem that happens when you exit MAE- MAE hangs, and you
have to kill the process to quit. Reid says that is is a known problem
from before and that users are used to dealing with it; it used to happen
intermittetly but now seems to happen every time.
