1. Status
8.1.5 out to dev; 8.1.6 and 8.0L out this week. Aiming at
public release in about 2 weeks.
2. problem with /var/lp/logs NOT tar. unclear what the problem was,
so we'll keep an eye open.
3. SGI - Andy Shein visit reviewed. Main learning was that SGI
allows each hardware platform to develop independent OS variant, with
plan to integrate later. Right now, it looks as if 6.5 may be later
than was predicted, and we will have a reasonable 6.2 system (Craig's
work) earlier than expected. Not at all clear how this will all shake
out, so stay tuned.
4. Discussion of qualifying platform effort. Basically, we have some
systems, with "proof of concept" ports in hand. Some other measures:
relationship to company, hardware cost, availability of AFS,
etc. mentioned.
Jean Foster picked up action item to check out What Runs Where list
against other platforms.
