Date: Mon, 19 May 2008 17:46:03 -0400 (EDT) From: ghudson@mit.edu Message-Id: <200805192146.m4JLk33U002752@outgoing.mit.edu> To: release-announce@mit.edu Errors-To: release-announce-bounces@mit.edu The Athena 9.4.47 patch release is currently scheduled for the evening of Tuesday May 27. Changes include: On both platforms: * Firefox will start up properly for profile names containing spaces. * The jwrite man page documents the -t option. * A file descriptor leak is fixed in nmh. * Double-sided printing will become the default for new users. * bash dotfile handling for graphical logins has been improved. On Solaris: * vold will be reenabled. Users of bash will want to be aware of the following dotfile changes for graphical logins: * tcsh dotfiles will no longer be sourced by the top-level shell. * .bash_environment will be sourced just once by the top-level shell. * .startup.X will be sourced with bash instead of tcsh. * On logout, .bash_logout will be sourced with bash instead of .logout with tcsh. None of these bash dotfile changes affect console or remote logins. If you have a machine set AUTOUPDATE=false, you can update it manually after the release goes out by doing a console login as root and running "update_ws". Please send any questions or comments to release-team@mit.edu. Please report any bugs you find with the "sendbug" command.
