Hello all,

It's come to my attention that there's been at least one complaint about ou=
r tabletop run using AiW. I'm not entirely sure what the complaint was or w=
ho brought it up, since this information came to me through a chain of seve=
ral people. If someone has a problem with us using AiW, please let us know =
so that we can try to work things out.

Based on the discussion that I've heard so far, it seems like people were b=
othered by the fact that I mentioned in my last reservation email that I wa=
s planning to continue reserving AiW every Friday. I would like to point ou=
t that I have not officially reserved it for any time except the coming Fri=
day so far (as can be seen on the AiW scheduler page here: http://diswww.mi=
t.edu/menelaus/random-aiw/), and my comment was simply a statement that I w=
as going to continue reserving AiW a few days in advance every week. If oth=
er events reserve AiW before I do, then those events will have priority to =
our tabletop run.

It's also been brought up that we aren't using AiW for the projector, so wh=
y do we take up AiW instead of having our tabletop somewhere else and let p=
eople watch movies in AiW? Well, the projector isn't the only piece of equi=
pment in AiW. We use AiW because the combination of the speaker system and =
lighting help to give the run more atmosphere than if we were playing in a =
well-lit lounge or other space. In addition, AiW is fairly out of the way, =
so we aren't regularly distracted by people just walking through. Also, jus=
t because AiW has a projector doesn't mean it's the only place you can watc=
h movies. Bmf and Bonfire both have excellent televisions, and Randomites a=
re generally friendly and I've spontaneously watched movies in both locatio=
ns without any problems. (this is not meant to be a "fuck off and watch you=
r movies elsewhere", but rather a "in case you didn't know, there are other=
 places you can watch things")

Tl;dr, I'm only reserving AiW a few days in advance each week, so if you re=
serve it before I get around to it, kudos to you, but we do have reasons fo=
r reserving this space instead of going elsewhere, so if you would at least=
consider whether you really need this particular space before reserving it=
Friday evenings, I would really appreciate it. I know Random has a group t=
endency to be passive-agressive, but if you have any complaints about our u=
se of community space, I would much prefer you bring it up to my face so th=
at we can resolve any issues you might have.

Thank you,

Elizabeth Krueger
