With my Athena printing hat on, I contacted i-data, asking for more
information about SafeCom (their secure printing dongels -- see
<URL:http://www.i-data.com/products/print/secure/safecom/>), and
bringing up some points that I felt might be problematic as they
relate to the Athena print system. Here's the response I got:

Subject: SafeCom at MIT
Mike,
My name is Trygve Nordly. I am the product manager of the product you commented
- SafeCom. We, the SafeCom team, were very enthusiastic about your mail and the
advanced thoughts on printing security you have at MIT. SafeCom has in many ways
changed the way we see printing and indeed printing security. We have received
many good inputs from customers from around the world especially from the
educational sector.
I would be happy if we could work together about the next generation of the
SafeCom functionality. We already have some interesting things in the pipe line
I would like to discuss with you.
Please send me your thoughts about working together.
Regards
Trygve Nordly

I'm not sure what to think. They didn't actually answer any of my
questions, but it might be interesting to talk to them. I'll probably
be following up soon.
I'm wondering if anyone has any points they'd be interested in having
me raise with the safecom group.
