      Thanks for the speedy response! 
      It worked! I was a little confused because I used easy_install -U gensim yesterday and downloaded fine, but today it didn't work. But the --user works, so I'll stick with that.

Hi Andrew,

Unfortunately, this is not a bug. You're trying to run easy_install as
yourself, which in fact doesn't have permissions into /usr/local/.
Perhaps you meant easy_install --user?
