jdreed, before going on vacation, crafted a prototype greeter that I
like.

The theme and a screenshot are located in /mit/jdreed/Public/
gdmtheme/ The theme is called "athena10".

It is known to be ugly at resolutions of 640x480 and lower. We have
decided that we don't care.

I would be interested in hearing what others think of the
aesthetics. Am I sane suggesting we switch to this one?

jdreed says that if we want a textured background, an SVG could be
made in Illustrator or Inkscape. Noting also that MIT Red is #993333,
however, he used #882222 for the background, to provide contrast
against the gradient in the login box.

QUESTION: Can we go with this, or do others see further changes
necessary? (Or are we just collectively letting that crazy Bill
Cattey character drive the asethetics?)

-Bill
