Should education mold students into cogs in the consumer production line, and convert them into acceptance of the status quo?
At Truthout, we don't think so. If you share this perspective, please make a contribution to support our work now. All too often, the current systems that surround us teach children to equate happiness with possessions and wealth, instill in them the mantra that "economic opportunity" is the same as valuing our fellow human beings, and abandon countless children to economic deprivation, neglect, prejudice and violence.
Truthout and BuzzFlash don't believe that we should put children in a pipeline, whether toward a system of economic injustice or mass incarceration. We don't believe war and violence are realities that children must be acculturated to as adults; but rather that adults should be acculturated to ending war and violence.
We must raise over $22,000 more by the end of tomorrow to continue Truthout's work.
