We have developed a tool for automating the BDC process. It is a
R/3 transaction that creates allows an analyst to describe the flow
of a transaction and then provides them a description of input data
specs. Finally, if data is provided in that format, it creates
either a BDC session or it executes call transaction. To the best of my
knowledge there is no other general purpose tool except the one
that was built for R/2 (BTCI tools) by SAP. It really only works
effectively for R/2 data.
