August 11, 1994
Dear OSF Member:
We are very pleased to announce the Second International
World-Wide Web (WWW) Conference, October 17-20, 1994, at
the Ramada-Congress Hotel, Chicago; and invite you to
attend! Our Second Annual promises to be a winner.
Based on all of the advancements in Mosaic and World-
Wide Web since the first event, an exciting,
information-packed agenda is under development.
If your IS organization and technology implementors are
looking for help in navigating the maze of information
about Internet, World-Wide Web and "net surfing"
software tools, this conference is for you. If your
business managers are looking for a way to save money
making data and documents more readily available,
including those that might otherwise be out of print,
you should attend.
So that your whole team will get the most benefit from
their investment, we've included both novice and advance
tutorials and conference sessions. There's even a
separate Developer's Day, just for programmers.
By attending this four-day conference you will:
* Explore the growing impact of the World-Wide Web
(WWW), the Internet's multimedia service
* Understand how to use Mosaic, which discovers,
retrieves and displays documents and data from all
over the Internet
* Examine advanced features of Mosaic
* Gain a basic understanding of Hypertext Marking
Language (HTML)
* Review WWW and Internet software and services that
improve information access, navigation and retrieval
* Survey the issues of Information Security on the WWW
* Gain the skills to manage the contents on WWW servers
* Assess the future of WWW communication for education,
government, medical, financial, and other commercial
uses
The Second International World-Wide Web (WWW)
Conference, enjoys the sponsorship of today's most
prominent industry pioneers, gurus and visionaries in
the area of WWW and the Mosaic application.
* CERN (Conseil European pour la Recherche Nucleaire),
the Web's original designers;
* NCSA (National Center for Supercomputer Applications
in Champaign, Ill) Software Development Group,
developers of Mosaic;
* National Science Foundation; and,
* OSF Research Institute, research providers for the
next generation of open systems technology
Mark your calendar now for this unique experience,
October 17-20. We anticipate over 1000 people will join
us, and there will be a waiting list.
Register today! You can avoid late fees by registering
for the conference by September 19. Hotel reservations
are due by September 16. Pre-registration fees are
listed on the convenient fax-back registration form
enclosed with additional information below. Or you can
register through the World-Wide Web:

We look forward to seeing you in Chicago!
Sincerely,

in connection with this conference. All reservations must
be made no later than September 16, 1994. You must register
directly with the hotel for rooms. Please mention that you
plan to attend the WWW Fall '94 Conference when
registering. This is important. We have had reports that
some hotel reservations staff (who are unfamiliar with
Mosaic and the Web) do not parse "WWW" as equatable with
"Mosaic" or "World-Wide Web." So to avoid confusion about
terminology please reference the conference as "WWW Fall
'94" when making hotel room reservations.
Rates (excluding taxes) are $75.00 (Single Occupancy) and
$85.00 (Double Occupancy). Additional persons occupying a
double room will be charged $20.00 per person per night.
