Originally meant for the few who have been through training I've been
getting an awful lot of questions about emmy.

emmy.mit.edu is the machine name for the new Barton / Advance server over
in Bldg. 14.

For those who are interested in the derivation of the name: Emmy comes
from the mid-50's movie Desk Set starring Katherine Hepburn and Spencer
Tracy. Katherine Hepburn was a librarian whose library was being
computerized by Spencer Tracy, who was supposedly from MIT. Emmy was the
name of the computer. Naturally, Tracy and Hepburn didn't get along at
first and eventually Emmy failed to live up to the designer's expectations.
We expect that the current emmy will be more successful.
