We all know that students DO read - they must to complete their =
coursework and graduate. However, with their busy schedules, they are =
selective about what they chose to read (faculty and staff are =
frequently the same way).
Do students read all of the messages that pop up in from of them from =
their computer?
Are they reading your campus-wide messages sent via e-mail?=20
Are they installing operating system updates?=20
Are they installing virus protection software and updates?=20
Are they falling for phishing scams?=20
Are they tricked into paying for fake anti-virus software?=20
Are they continuing to use P2P software to download copyrighted =
materials for free?
Have they ever read your institution's acceptable use policy?
What do you do to help protect the security of your campus community? =
What policies do you have in place to help guide users in protecting =
their security? How do you share that information with students, =
faculty, and staff? How do you handle all these issues without losing =
your sanity?=20
Please share your experience with others! Security and Policy is a 2012 =
Student Technology Conference theme, and we'd love to have you present =
on what works for you (and what doesn't).=20
Visit http://resnetsymposium.org/rspm/index/ to sign up and submit a =
presentation proposal with what you=92d like to share with us. You =
don=92t have to have your presentation completed and polished, just a =
brief description will do. You'll have time between now and the =
conference to make your presentation shine.
The deadline for proposals is March 1, 2012 at 5:00pm (Pacific Time).=20
