I have used GroupMe for activities that were not work-related. It's a reall=
y awesome solution to this problem. It has an iPhone app that lets you cont=
rol it, but it also works well on standard phones that only do texting (we =
had at least one of those in our group). The only problem we had was a larg=
e number of texts (which can cost people money if they don't have a texting=
plan), but because of what we were using it for (I'll be honest, it was fo=
r Phish tour), the texting got out of hand at times.

GroupMe. (groupme.com<http://groupme.com>)

I use it for my student leadership team, with full time folks, and with per=
sonal friends. There is also an iPhone app that will let you receive them a=
s Push notifications instead of Texts if you prefer.
