Hi everyone,
I hope you all are doing well getting ready for the start of term. One of
the main things Bennie and I have been working over the past few weeks has
been the Planning Task Force Preliminary Report (a.k.a. report on budget
cuts). If you haven't read it already, please try to familiarize yourselves
with it (http://ideabank.mit.edu/system/files/TaskForcePrliminaryReport.pdf).
A few of us met on Wednesday and highlighted key recommendations that will
have a larger impact on undergraduates. Over the next few weeks, we plan on
drafting a UA response to the report. Chancellor Clay and others will be
coming to an Exec meeting to give us an opportunity to discuss the report.A
final report from the task force will be released in October, so we don't
have a lot of time. I have reached out to a few committee chairs whose
committees deal specifically with the specific recommendations we are
reviewing. However, if you haven't heard from me but would like to get
involved, shoot me an email.
Mike and I will be getting back to everyone in the near future about the
first exec meeting and other logistics. Good luck with classes!
