Hello all,

My name is Sydney Hodges and I am Maseeh's new President. After the UA
meeting last week, our house government has decided to help support and
progress the efforts you all have been making with transforming the way the
campus views and treats mental health and welfare.

We wanted to propose an initiative of mental health "office hours" in
dorms. In the past we have struggled to get mental health professionals to
come to students--they have strictly enforced the protocol of patients
coming to them, in their spaces, and in working hours (9-5). This is a huge
barrier to students, who are often not available during those hours.

Maseeh has a space(an old bathroom turned office) that could be made into
one of the "in-dorm" offices, and other dorms could have spaces made if
things go well. The room is secluded and private. We would be more than
willing to set up and furnish the room.

As for the Office Hours themselves, what we imagine are the availability
for casual drop ins and potentially scheduled meetings in more
student-friendly hours (early evening). We could start with just a few
hours a week, and see how things progress from there.

Please let us know what you think, and how we can help with any future
plans,

Sydney
