The 197172 Princeton Tigers men's basketball team represented the Princeton University in intercollegiate college basketball during the 197172 NCAA University Division men's basketball season. The head coach was Pete Carril and the team captain was Alfred M. Dufty, Jr.. The team played its home games in the Jadwin Gymnasium on the University campus in Princeton, New Jersey. The team was the runnerup in the Ivy League and earned itself an invitation to the 16team 1972 National Invitation Tournament. The team was the first Princeton team to participate in the National Invitation Tournament.The team posted a 207 overall record and a 122 conference record.
