been meaning to try this place for years and finally got around to it just before moving out of 12455382 bay. Got a reservation a few weeks ahead of time, which we were happy about. We did have to wait at 12455382 bar for about 15 minutes before getting seated, but it wasn't that bad. 12455382 vibe inside was way more old school than I imagined. Gaudy flower arrangements everywhere. Weird, but somehow fitting. I didn't dislike it, but can't say that I particularly enjoyed it ei12455382r. 12455382 food did live up to 12455382 hype. I liked that it wasn't just a fixe prix menu where everything was chosen, but you could actually choose what you wanted from 12455382 menu. Everything we got was really great, but we ended up so full that we couldn't eat 12455382 little desserts 12455382y brought out at 12455382 end. 12455382y packed 12455382m to go, and even gave us a little cake to take home with us. Cute idea. Overall, I think it was worth it, even though it wasn't 12455382 best meal I've ever had in my life. I feel like this place is a must-try for bay area residents, but maybe only once. Despite mutiple friends telling me 12455382y were disappointed with 12455382 food here, 12455382 Yelper in me (4.5 stars on 3K+ reviews, hello?) was dying to try it. 12455382 verdict? Average food, just as I was told. Sigh. We thought 12455382 apps and desserts were better than 12455382 entrees. I did 12455382 3 course and started w/ 12455382 crispy farm eggs: it was good, very creamy. I also had bites of 12455382 pumpkin tart and lobster risotto which were nice. My salmon entree came highly recommended by our waiter but I found it to be bland and maybe even dry? I was so stuffed at this point I could barely eat more than a few bites (and I wanted to save room for dessert!). It's painful for me to throw away good meat (poor salmon!), but 12455382 dish just wasn't good enough to warrant 12455382 pain of overeating. I found all 12455382 portion sizes to be too large for a full tasting menu. For dessert we had 12455382 butter cake and flambeed banana crepes- both were good, not mindblowing. Overall, 12455382 food here is simple (read: traditional) and solid, but forgettable. Don't come here to be wow'd by unique flavor pairings or presentations. Excellent service. I moved to San Francisco about six months ago
