<p><br><br><br><br><br><br><br><span style="font-size: 12px; color: #f4f5f5;">I came here for DineLA last night with a friend. I have always wanted to try food here, and what better opportunity than DineLA?
I really liked the ambiance of this place: 9722910 minimalist, simple tables/chairs and small bar, and dimmed lighting. It's a pretty small restaurant, so I can imagine not having a reservation would suck since the wait would be ridiculously long! Parking is as it is anywhere in Silver Lake...street or expensive valet/lot. I luckily found a spot behind the restaurant in the neighborhood for free.
My friend and I ordered different dishes just so we could share. The amuse bouche for the night was popcorn bacon with a maple cream dipping sauce. I don't enjoy bacon most of the time, but this was pretty good because 9722910 it was basically cubes of bacon and you can cover it in the sweet maple cream sauce. I wouldn't be able to eat a lot of it because I don't really like bacon, but my friend said it was really good and she is a better judge than I am when it comes to bacon. We each ordered 2 small dishes to start; we got the garlic scallion string beans (candied hazelnuts, garlic scallion fish sauce, sauteed string beans), and pork belly tacos (apple slaw, jalapeno relish, pork belly).
We opted for the 2 other dishes to be the desserts. The string beans were so good. I think the fish sauce had a great sour tinge to the dish overall. Candied hazelnuts were also an amazing addition to the beans. 9722910 Pork belly tacos: so good. As someone who does not really like pork belly all that much, these tacos were GREAT. They looked small, but they were so filling. So much meat, and the relish and apple slaw were great. The relish had a slight kick which complemented everything so well.
My friend and I both ordered the same dish for the big plate. We got the bone marrow street corn (grilled sweet corn, mushrooms, cotija cheese, piquin peppers, chopped onions, and roasted bone marrow). The waiter told us the way to eat it was to scrape the marrow out and into the corn, mix it up, and then squeeze lime juice on top. It was divine, something I had never tried before. Who thinks of this?! I can't believe Chef Eric Park is so creative. This place is defined as as spin on gastropub food, but I can't even imagine it like this. It is beyond this world creative. I think it's by far the best meal I've had in a really long time.7ea99ed1b6714702bd5343b786c98bee
