onal baggage.When
I meet someone new, I get to talk to him or her
like a regular person. We joke around, talk about our families, and
then the inevitable happens. What do you do for a living? When
I answer this question, I typically get one of two responses. I
either get an onslaught of Christianese phrases -- Oh, praise the Lord!
What a blessing, brother Craig! or I get stonewalled, and the conversation
dies as quickly as it started. One time when this happened, the person
I was talking with politely shared that he didnt like religious people.
I chimed in that I didnt like religious people either. His mouth
nearly dropped to the floor. I explained that religion is about rules,
but being a Christian is about relationship. Now Im not saying is that
religious organizations are useless. Obviously, Im a part of one. I am
the pastor of a church and truly believe what Bill Hybels asserts:
The local church is the hope of the world. But in order
to reach the current generation and generations to come, we must change
the way we do things. Thats why we like to say, To
reach people no one is reaching, we have to do things no
one is doing. As churches, we dont have the liberty to change the
message, but we must change the way the message is presented. We
have to discover our "altar ego"and become who God says we are
instead of who others say we are.Peeling off the labels that cling
to our reputation brings great freedom for us as individuals and a

Calif. A federal judge on Friday rejected Gov. Jerry Brown's bid
to regain state control of inmates' mental health care after 18 years
of court oversight and billions of dollars spent to improve treatment.U.S.
District Judge Lawrence Karlton in Sacramento ruled that the state failed
to prove that it is providing the level of care required by
the U.S. Constitution for the state's more than 32,000 mentally ill inmates."This
court finds that ongoing constitutional violations remain in this action
and the prospective relief ordered by this court remains necessary to remedy
those violations," the judge said in his 68-page decision. The decision is
a blow to the Democratic governor's attempts to end nearly two decades
of expensive federal lawsuits that influence nearly every aspect of California's
prison system. It also undermines Brown's efforts to lift a separate court
order that otherwise will force the state to reduce its prison population
by nearly 10,000 by year's end.Brown has promised to appeal."The state's
lawyers are reviewing the order and we will send out reaction as
soon as possible," Jeffrey Callison, spokesman for the Department of Corrections
and Rehabilitation, said in an email. The governor's office did not immediately
respond to a request for comment. The judge and the attorneys for both

so the meeting will be rescheduled, a South Korean Joint Chiefs officer
said Sunday. The officer spoke on condition of anonymity, citing office
policy. The top U.S. military commander in South Korea, Gen. James Thurman,
will not make a planned trip to Washington this week to testify
before Congress because of tensions with North Korea. In an email Sunday
to The Associated Press, Army Col. Amy Hannah said Thurman would remain
in Seoul as "a prudent measure." He was scheduled to testify on
Tuesday and Wednesday. The U.S. Defense Department has delayed an intercontinental
ballistic missile test that had been planned for this week because of
concerns the launch could be misinterpreted and exacerbate the Korean crisis,
a senior defense official told The Associated Press.Defense Secretary Chuck
Hagel decided to delay the test at an Air Force base in
California until sometime next month, the official said Saturday. The official
was not authorized to speak publicly about the test delay and requested
anonymity. In recent weeks, the U.S. has followed provocations from North
Korea with shows of force connected to the joint exercises with South
Korea. It has sent nuclear capable B-2 and B-52 bombers and stealth
F-22 fighters to participate in the drills. In addition, the U.S. said last
week that two of the Navy's missile-defense ships were moved closer to
the Korean Peninsula, and a land-based missile-defense system is being deployed

TAMPA, Fla. Florida authorities are hoping good weather will improve their
chances of tracking down a sailboat that may be carrying two boys
kidnapped from their grandparents' home. The Hillsborough County Sheriff's
Office says Joshua Michael Hakken entered his mother-in-law's house north
of Tampa early Wednesday, tied her up and fled with his sons,
4-year-old Cole and 2-year-old Chase.Authorities are searching for a boat
Hakken recently bought. It's described as having a blue Bimini top, white
mainsail, and a blue hull with the word "Salty" and a paw
print in white on both sides, with a white stripe near the
water line. There is possibly a yellow horseshoe life preserver on deck.Sheriff's
office spokesman Larry McKinnon tells The Tampa Tribune (http://bit.ly/12xyjhY)
that good weather means more recreational and boaters will be on the
water and able to help in the search.Storms had been moving along
the west coast of Florida and in the Gulf of Mexico last
week, but conditions improved Saturday and Sunday.Federal, state and local
authorities are searching for the sailboat by sea and air. Pictures of
the vessel also have been distributed at local marinas.Hakken, his wife
Sharyn and the boys could be anywhere, McKinnon said. The truck the
family had been traveling in was found late Thursday, abandoned in a
parking garage in Madeira Beach."The Gulf of Mexico is 200,000 square nautical
miles," said McKinnon. "We are looking up and down the
