It sounds like you need to RUN, do not walk, to your thesis advisor!
And probably also to the professor (NOT the TA) of your class. Explain
the situation to them, and explain that if they don't let you work as
needed, without having to sign up, that they'll be preventing you from
completing your thesis.
Be reasonable, be upbeat, but make it clear that you are serious about
needing to do your work.
Remember, also, that things always look worst in March. By April the
daffodils will be emerging to cheer you and the late-semester pressure
will be so high you won't have time to be unhappy :-)
