I enter the black-hole of im locker maintenance. Although
since im locker maintainers seem to graduate... yeah, it'd
be nice to graduate, someday.
I compiled a "standalone" version of the gaim OTR encryption
plugin at /mit/im/gaim/otr/plugins . In order to use the
plugin, one needs to symlink or copy the two files there to
~/.gaim/plugins (or if the only plugin, symlink the entire
directory).
Of course, gaim in the im locker already has the OTR plugin,
so this isn't necessary for it. (In fact, maybe big flashes
of light and *boom* if you have the plugin from both the im
locker and in your personal ~/.gaim/plugins directory, I
haven't tested.)
This is intended for the new Athena 9.4 gaim, which happens
to be a newer version than the im locker gaim, but doesn't
have OTR in it already.
Finally, the OTR protocol has a cryptographic flaw:
