I was pitched to by both pitchers- for the NESA directory APO cited & the
Sons of the American Revolution directory (I'm a member of both). A CD was
available at least of the SAR directory. I express my concern about my SAR
experience (product not useful for me) every time I speak with them.
Other SAR members were satisfied with their directories.

As an SAR member, current/former chapter historian(APO/SAR) & genealogist, I
can state that I have preferred history/current information over privacy and
that is still a conflict for me, including in APO records- I wanted
ID/genealogical records submitted with applications (as relevant- for
example, birth dates, family members in APO, parents' names). I was
informed that attitudinal promotion (positively) about APO after
graduation/leaving a chapter & later that this directory would eliminate
future searches.

Most (US) Eagle Scouts & APO (US) brothers would not have a use for the vast
majority of the information, unless there was a chance of looking brothers
up by industry or something similar for networking purposes. Even then, it
can be difficult to successfully use such a directory for those purposes.

Harris makes money and finances the calls based on directory sales. Not
enough directories bought- not enough to cover costs and/or make a profit.
Marketing could be used eventually as copies end up in libraries, but if
they were donated out of estates, use would be limited. I'm waiting for at
least the next edition to purchase. What about brothers who don't get the
T&T? They could use the Web site and ask to be called back later (most of
them).

Solutions?
