CHANGES IN DONOR ELIGIBILITY: In May, FDA updated the rules for
aregarding an individual donor assessment for all blood donors
regardless of gender or sexual orientation. This is has changed most of
the rules blocking people from donating based on male homosexual sex.
The Red Cross has updated their rules to match the revised regulations.
The new rules mean many people who could not give in the past can give
now.

Tuesday, September 19 is the 3rd Tuesday in an odd numbered month that
means it is time for another Blood Drive and dinner trip.

The Red Cross says it is experiencing an accute blood shortage (that
seems to be the permanent state of things, or at least it has been going
on so long it feels that way). Please make the time to donate at a time
and place that is convenient for you even if you can't join me.

If you are interested in joining the dinner trip, please let me know by
Sunday, September 17 and let me know what kind of dining situation you
are comfortable with (outdoors only, indoors is fine, indoors if certain
conditions exist, ...) so we can pick a location / dinner setting that
everyone is
comfortable with and make reservations if possible.

The details:

Who: Hopefully, you. Family and friends welcome.
What: Blood donation followed by Dinner Trip
When: September 19, 2023
Where: American Legion Hall, 162 Winn Street, Burlington, MA
Why: Because it saves lives.
How:

To Make an appointment to donate call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE or go on line at
http://www.redcrossblood.org/ Sometimes you can get an appointment by
calling when none appear available on the website. It's unclear if they
have started allowing walk-ins again, it might depend on how busy they
are.

Please join us for dinner even if you can't donate.

If you are donating, please arrive by 6:30pm. The blood mobile is open
from 1:30pm - 7:00 pm.

If you want to join us only for dinner, DO NOT come to the Blood Drive
location. Contact me in advance so we can pick a place and time.

Please RSVP so I know who to expect. Send RSVPs by email to
ccrazy@panix.com or text message to 857-928-3118.
