I wanted to let everyone know that the blood drive last week was not as
well attended as we'd hoped, and appointment counts are a little low
for this week (Monday - Wednesday) too.

If you haven't already donated, please consider making an appointment
(http://web.mit.edu/blood-drive/www/), or just walking in.

We also have a few volunteer slots open if that is more your cup of tea:

I just wanted to remind everyone that there is a blood drive at MIT
Wednesday through Friday of this week, and Monday through Wednesday of
next week. We're looking both for more donors, and for more volunteers.

I've also been told that All presenting donors from April 17- May 14,
2017 (which includes our drive) will be entered in a sweepstakes to win
a $1000 gift card shopping spree from GiftCertificates.com.

Please take the time to save a life or three this spring.

Executive Summary: There will be a blood drive at MIT from Wednesday
4/19 through Friday 4/21 *and* Monday 4/24 through Wednesday 4/26, in La

The Red Cross is offering an opportunity to complete the reading and
health questionnaire from the comfort of your home or office, which is
supposed to save you around 15 minutes at the drive itself. To do this,
visit http://www.redcrossblood.org/rapidpass, but be aware of several
caveats: 1) this *must* be done the same day as your donation 2) It
cannot be done from a phone, a desktop/laptop is required 3) You will
need to be able to show a copy of your form (either emailed to yourself,
or printed) at the drive 4) MIT's drives are located in zip code 02139

Hello,

Please allow me to begin by thanking everyone who made the extra effort
to donate at our February drive, despite our having to close for two of
the five days, and thank you for your understanding for those who would
have donated but couldn't.

There will be a blood drive at MIT from Wednesday 4/19 through Friday
4/21 *and* Monday 4/24 through Wednesday 4/26, in La Sala in the Student
Center. The drive will run from 1pm to 6pm every day except Friday,
when it will run from 8am to 1pm.

Please use http://web.mit.edu/blood-drive/www/ to make an appointment
for faster service.

This drive begins the day after MIT's Day of Service. Please consider
donating or volunteering at the blood drive to be yet another way to
provide a service to our community.

The Red Cross relies on appointments to decide how many staff to
provide on a given day. Making appointments will decrease your wait,
and make the drive run faster as a whole (even if you can only tell us
what day you want to donate, and not what time during the day.) To make
an appointment, fill out the form at:

	http://web.mit.edu/blood-drive/www/

If you cannot make an appointment please feel free to come to the
drive and donate anyway.

We can always use more volunteers to help out during the drive to get
people registered quickly and take some of the pressure off the Red
Cross workers. Even if you can't donate blood, you're encouraged to
donate some of your time to the drive. Some of the services that
volunteers may perform are registering donors, staffing the canteen,
and providing moral support to the donors. No previous experience is
necessary to volunteer. All these efforts are important to the
drive's success. To volunteer, send e-mail to
blood-drive-coordinators@mit.edu, and someone will reply to you
shortly before the drive starts.

Blood Donation Factoids:

  * Wear comfortable clothing. Wear clothing with sleeves that can easily
be rolled up above the elbow, as well as something that you will feel
comfortable in while on the bed during the donation process.

  * A newborn open-heart surgery, on average, will need one - four units
of red blood cells, one - two units of plasma, and one - four units
    of platelets.

If you want to forward this message, feel free as long as you are
sending it to a friend, or to a list for which it is appropriate. In
other words, feel free to forward, but please don't spam people on our
behalf. If anyone wants to get on our mailing list they can check the
appropriate box when making an appointment, or fill out the form at
